Hi,

We are flying out to BGI on the above date in economy through VH. As usual, VH wish to charge me way too much to upgrade the outbound seats.

I'm willing to take a chance on negotiating deal on the day of travel as there are still 9 seats available.

I believe that we can check-in online from noon the day before and also take advantage of the Twilight check-in until 9pm the day before. We fly at 10am.

Can a guru let me know when VS will be able to offer me a deal on any available PE seats? I'm led to belive it's on the day of travel, but does this mean after midnight?

Thanks

I belive that when you complete OLCI (which you can do at T24hrs) if there are any PE seats remaining an offer will appear during that process.

There is no facility to negotiate a deal either before checkin in or during. The price is set my revenue management.

ISTBC but 'on the day' means at checkin not literally from midnight

Agree with HG.

On the day upgrade bargains shouldn't be relied upon. There have been recent stories of last minute upgrade offers. But, as far as I can tell, these have generally been on flights oversold in economy, where VS are looking to get money for upgrades, rather than being forced to Op-Up.

The thing about the flights to the Caribbean, is that the loads are far more predictable that the business routes our of LHR. The vast majority of pax are going on holiday, their tickets are generally booked well in advance and very few are in flexible buckets.

Another consideration in these days of economic vigilance, is that there aren't too many extra meals loaded, so too many last minute upgrades may cause problems in that area too.

Nothing is ever set in stone though, so there is no harm in trying.

Please let us know the result.

using twighlight check-in the day before? While not actually on the day, would be classed as 'on the day' as it is at checkin?

You can pay for upgrades once you get to the airport though, as long as their is availability in the higher cabin of course.

I seriously doubt VS would turn you away if you where willing to hand over cash to sit in a higher cabin.

I've done it several times at the airport, even with VH fares.

Just managed to negotiate a deal for the 4 x PE seats. I was originally offered the seats at around 1400 outbound, but having asked again several times, the price has dropped to 880. Although it may have dropped further, I wanted to be sure of the seats so went with this price - happy days!!!!

Well done, and I'd say a pretty good price too.

Just for future reference, when you say 'several times' do you mean you negotiated with the agent or just kept ringing back?
