Only 1 PE AMEX upgrade voucher now to fly to SYD

Have just spoken with FC ref some flights and was looking for the best way for us to go to SYD via HKG using miles, whether to go one leg upper and 1 PE or both PE etc.

I have 2 PE AMEX upgrade vouchers which expire in 3 weeks[:(] and the following day will get 2 more so i thought i would need to book one leg one day then the next leg the following day and risk the reward flights going, as can't book all the legs at once as i won't have the 4 vouchers needed. (for 2 pax)

The agent said hang on she had read something today regarding the PE AMEX upgrade vouchers. She came back and said that they have changed the rules ref the vouchers. Now 1 voucher can be used for a complete return trip to SYD, so spend the Y points (105,000) and use one voucher to upgrade to PE the whole route ![y]

Now the decison is use 210,000 miles and the vouchers for us both, or use the miles for one of us to go UC and pay for the cheapest UC ticket?

The other option is me to go UC on the miles and leave Mrs Chumba at home ! But don't think she'll go for that option [V]

Result.[y] Thanks for that info,it is nice that at least one aspect of the credit card is getting a boost.

A PE upgrade all the way to SYD and back certainly makes the voucher worthwhile.

For me it's a no brainer -I'd be buying a G with miles and a Z (if available) with cash.Even in UC the journey is very very long (and even if you break up the journey in HKG).I really don't think I'd have managed the trip in PE -and as for the poor folks down at the back.....

Glad you've re-enforced our decision, as was wondering if we'd missed the boat with this one, but our commitment to 3 upgraded G's I think for this route will be wholly worthwhile.
