Hello,

I am a tad confused - the FC AU benefits are stated as 20kg additional allowance. I am flying economy back from HKG my understanding is that I get 23kg - one bag - the additional benefit is +20kg - total 43kg however all in one bag - then it states on flights to the UK max weight of one bag is 32kg. I have a degree in Maths but can't work this one out - where the rules written by two different people? [:#]Is there any way I would be able to take two bags?

I do this flight 3- 4 times a year mainly in J but when travelling on pleasure take K.
Same allowances apply in Prem Econ of 23KG but as AU member get my extra allowance.
As LHR has 32KG limit for Health & S reasons I just take second case.
Never had any problems at check in.

Dont forget to use U/C check in desks at the airport as AU member

Maybe I am reading it wrong, but the baggage info just states that 'A total maximum luggage weight of 23kg per passenger.', it doesn't say it has to be in 1 bag, so if that is the case you can have 2 bags for your 43kg.

There are 2 baggage allowance systems, one for the US and one for Asia. US is by piece and Asia is by weight.
Economy: US 2 x 23kg bags, Asia 23kg total weight
Premium Economy: US 2 x 32kg bags, Asia 23kg total weight
Upper: US 3 x 32kg bags, Asia 30kg total weight.

If you are AU you get 1 extra bag of the same weight as your normal allowance on the US route. For Asia you get 20kg on top of whatever your normal allowance is and you can have as many bags as you want as long as you are within the limit.

Much appreciated - in these tough times I am trying to pay for my flight taking samples back as check in luggage - not so tough as I'm in the luggage game [:D] Will travel light on the way out - sitting in the HK lounge as we speak on another flight back - 5th this year in Y - times are tough
