Hey

I noticed that from this summer timetable VS have changed the schedule at LGW somewhat. Does anyone know why this was? Has it improved efficiency at all? I know the LGW/MAN fleet are stretched to the limits and wondered if this had anything to do with VS trying to ease the pressure a bit?

Any ideas and thoughts would be appreciated.

Could you give some examples of changes?

I am not 100% on top of the LGW schedule but all the flights I regularly look for have stayed at broadly the same times.

Sure,

The HAV, KIN and MBJ now go at 11:45 OR 12:45 whereas they sued to go at 09:40. They also now arrive back at around 09:45 a good 3 hours later than before. The Barbados now gets back into LGW 40 minutes earlier. The MCO flights now have timetabled flight times of 09:10 hrs and 09:00 hrs outbound and 08:15 hrs inbound as opposed to both being 09:10 hrs outbound and 08:05 hrs inbound. The Las Vegas is also pushed back to 11:25 and now arrives at 10:30. Theres nothing drastic but it just seems weird that everything seems to have moved. Now the majority of LGW flights leave around 10 and 11. Whereas they have for the past few years all left at around 9 or 10 with only the Orlando flights leaving after that.

Its nothing really drastic as you point out. It could have been done for any number of reasons if I am honest. Sorry but I cant really provide you with an answer as to why. Back in the day, we did have a member on the boards who worked in the opeartions department at VS but sadly no longer.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is all to do with minimising the time the aircraft are on the ground. If my memory serves me correctly there was at least one VS plane a day on the ground at LGW for around 5 hours. This isn't really efficient use of an a/c.

It could be to allow a little more operational reliability ?
