Not sure how long it's been around, but you can now pre-order your VS duty free goods online before you fly:
http://www.buy-beforeyoufly.com/You can pre-order and pay for anything except tobacco, which you will have to ring up the usual VS pre-order line for.

Interesting, but pre-order may be more hassel than it's worth !
Recent trip to Mumbai did my usual pre-order for the return trip. Cabin Crew and FSM did not believe me that I get 10x the miles (basically, they forgot about me and tried to persuade me to get the cigarettes in India).
Return trip just before they stopped that route - had my Duty Free's nicked (only spotted by the crew as they thought it was a bit strange me just ordering a box of maltesers. The bag had been re-sealed with the duty free stuff taken out!)Crew then checked on the Duty Free stuff that was for sale and much of that had also gone walkabout.
So, I am 20+ down with no Duty Free cigarettes (for a colleague) and STILL waiting for someone from Customer Service (now there is a misnomer if ever I saw one) to contact me.

I thought you only got the miles when you pre-ordered by phone (or now online)? I might be wrong but I dont think you do get the miles if you pre-order on board for your return flight.
If you have any problems with pre-orders you need to call the pre-order line as there's an option in their phone menu to speak to someone if you havn't recevied your items.
Never had any major issues with pre-orders and I use it on every VS flight (unless I'm on the VS200/201 as you can't pre-order for that flight).
My order hadn't been loaded on my last flight but it was substituted with another item on board.

I've used it a few times via the phone, the miles I believe only get applied to pre-orders. Never really thought people would steal the cigarettes on board ? Or were they stolen before they got put on the plane ?

You do indeed get the miles if you pre-order on board. I have done this several times. Had to buy the Maltesers to put it over the 20 minimum - was buying on behalf of someone else anyway.
I beleive the outbound crew were returning back to base as it was the second last flight to Mumbai and probably their last.
I can speculate as to what happened ! As I said, it was not just my Pre-Order, but some of the stock as well.

Just an update on my order for 3 models.
They arrived as planned and correct.
There was also a little bonus too. Apparently my order was the first ever on the site so in addition to my order I also received the following items.
Half bottle of Champagne
pack of playing cards
2 x calender pens
A pre-production model of the 25th anniversary model of G-VIRG Maiden Flight.
A very nice letter from Richard Curtis, Marketing Manager VAA Duty-Free.

Well I pre-ordered on board the VS21 on Thursday, for my return on the VS22 next Saturday. I wanted to buy two items on board on the way over, but they only had one in stick. The FSM suggested that I pre-order for the way home, so I did.
Only time will tell whats going to happen [:?]

I spoke too soon. It appears the bonus may be more than it's suppose to be. I ordered one G-VSHY and one G-VFAB but have received 3 of each. OK, it's in my favour but still. Will call them to see how they want to play it...
