hi

we are flying MAN-MCO economy next September (i know how long to wait) Ive been asked by my TA if i have any seat preferences, but I don't know what to say. There will be 4 of us, so presume we would have to have one of the rows of 4 down the middle. Ive looked at the seat ratings but im not sure which plane we are likely to have next year as i beleive the 747-200's will be gone by then. Are we likely to have the V;port system.

any suggestions please?

The alternative to sitting 4 abreast would be 2 behind 2. I prefer this arrangement as, if you've got someone who has their seat on full recline in front of you, you can swap seats periodically to get some respite.

As you point out, no one really knows which aircraft will be flying this route in Sept 05, but we have been informed that a full UC service will be available so it's less likely to be the 747 200's (many posts on this site indicate a lease expiry in April/May 05). It could, though, be any of the other Boeings (either from LHR or LGW) or even one of the 343s. Several posts have suggested a LHR 747 transfer is most likely.

In any event, pairs of seats (A&C or H&K) are available on all these planes from row 62 backwards (row 61 on everything other than the 742). The third seat isn't present due to the curvature of the plane. These seem to get good press due to the extra space this creates at the side. On the 747s it also looks as though service starts at the front and back and meets in the middle so you'd get first choice. Only draw back is you'd be one of the last off the 'plane and last in the queue at immigration.

The seat ratings page will give you more info. Sorry can't help about the entertainment system due to the uncertainty about the plane.

Hope this helps

Pat

Hi Suzanne

Welcome to V-Flyer. I work in VS Operations and can confidently [:p] tell you that it will be a 744 in LGW config that will be used on MAN-MCO from 1 May next year. During the winter the 5 LGW 744s and 2 of the LHR 744s will be re-config'd into 16J/50W/373Y layout with Upper Class Suites and improved IFE, although the seating arrangement down the back will be the same as the present LGW a/c so you can choose your seats from the current LGW 744 seat map.

I hope that helps :)

Cheers
