Using Star Alliance lounges

VA have links and partnerships with lots of the *A airlines but I wonder will the VFC Gold get me access to *A lounges? In particular I am due to fly to Salt Lake (probably with United from T1 LHR) and wondered if I could use the BMI lounge? ii)

VS gold doesn't give you access to any *A lounges, except for the BMI lounge at LHR when you are travelling with them internationally.

If VS were part of the *Gold alliance airlines, I would certainly use the Clubhouse instead of the Continental, Air Canada or Singapore Airlines lounge !
This is probably one of the reasons why they don't form part of the Star Alliance network.
