I have used this section of the VS web site on many occasions to make seat reservations etc. However, we are on VS 601 to JNB on Friday 5th November and for some reason now I cannot access the seat map or even get beyond the log in page. I have another booking for St Lucia in March 2005 and can still get into that.

I called VS and they were very helpful saying that the flight was still booked etc and even gave me some additional onward flight times which I didn't have - so well done customer services!!

Any ideas as to why the flight management system would be working up to now and then deny me access all of a sudden???

Don't think we can blame this one on Microsoft;)

It is still a fairly new system, I have used it several times without problem, maybe it is just a glitch? I am sure others will comment.

You cannot view your seats on the website until your tickets have been actually be issued!!!!

So your flights in March 2005 will not be able to be accessed for another few months.

The only reason I can think of is that you booked with a J2000 configuration as your original flight. The VS601 on the 5 November is now showing a 747 with UCS. The Manage Your Flights service does not cope with a schedule change (i.e. J2000 to UCS) so a phone call to customer services should resolve this, and they can reassign seating which will in turn restore your access to the online service.

(Sorry, have just found your flight in Events & Itineraries and unless you have upgraded from PE my post will not be relevant).

Booked in PE - however I have already visited the seat map and seen that the flight will have suites - so dont know what the problem is??

Yeah - I read that on the VS site - but this is contradictory - I WAS able to see my flights up unitl a few days ago and I CAN see my St Lucia flights in March -and the VS site says that you can reserve your seats when you book - which is quite usual - so something is weird!!!!

Is this right? I've booked LGW-MCO for next April/May and although I and my daughter have been sent e-tickets for myself and daughter, my wife and (unborn) infant - on a different booking reference - have not. I can see seating for all on website.
