Newark Clubhouse

Anyone know why I was refused access to the Newark Clubhouse as a Singapore Airlines PPS member flying out of Newark on SIA?

(For those unfamiliar with SIA PPS, access rights to all Virgin Clubhouses comes with PPS membership)

Writing this from the SAS lounge, which is actually very nice. Shame about he very rude receptionist at Virgin who did not seem to know Virgin's own rules! If it were not for the fact that the SAS lounge is airside and the clubhouse landside (i.e. twice through security to go back there), I would print them out and have another go!!

Small complaint, but leaves a bad taste.

Hi Razza,

Sorry you were denied access.

I am not familiar with the SIA PPS arrangement but one reason could be that the Clubhouse was very busy at the time you tried to get in and you may find the SIA PPS access is dependent upon space being available within the Clubhouse. In any case all lounges have max capacity limits, fire regs, etc. You may have just been unlucky?

As for thr "very rude receptionist" perhaps a letter of complaint is called for?

Clubhouse access allowed for First Class, Business Class* travelers and the following SQ cardholders traveling in SQ Y class, VS W and Y class: *Solitaire, *PPS Club and *KrisFlyer Elite. *Not permitted entry in EWR Clubhouse.
*Revivals access for SQ First Class customers arriving on SQ322 only.
*Solitaire, PPS Club and Krisflyer ELITE GOLD customers

This is an extract from within VS regarding global lounge access policy. It does state in there an exception for EWR

Thanks for the above - very interesting, especially as it directly contracdicts what SQ PPS handbook says, i.e. the same but with either an SQ or VS ticket.

Perhaps I should not be surprised the staff are confused!
