i have been browsing the forums for a few days now and i have finally placked up the courage to post a question.
i am a regular flyer but not always virgin. My wife and i are off to Tobago 25th October VS051 and we are lucky to be able to go Upper Class . Never ever been privileged to fly this way i am wondering what we can expect. I now know there are beauty treatments and a lounge at Gatwick ,but is there a limo service ?

Are there any other perks i should be looking out for

Thanks in anticipation

Peanut, welcome to V-Flyer,

There is no need to be nervous about posting here, we are a friendly lot :D

You should get a civil answer to your questions, no matter how often they have been posted before ;)

I hope you enjoy the UC experience. Most details can be found here.

http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/wh ... /index.jsp

I can't answer the question about a limo, it depends on your class of ticket, I would ask your travel agent - or if you booked direct with VS, I would give them a ring. I suspect the answer may be, no - or they would, presumably, have been in touch with you by now, given that it is less than 3 weeks until you fly.

I am not a Caribbean expert, but if you have specific questions, I am sure someone here will be able to help out.

You can try doing a search in the trip reports section for specific experiences of Gatwick Clubhouse and Tobago. I do know that you can pre-book treatments in the Clubhouse there.

Have you joined the Flying Club yet? If not, make sure you do before flying. You can join after you get back and still get the miles for your flights, but I would advise joining sooner.

Anything else we can help with, feel free to ask.

Limo service is available to those who have booked a J or D fare. Z fares don't qualify. See more about fare codes at Guide to Fare Class Codes.

There is obviously plenty hereabouts (including trip reports) on the Upper Class service. Have a dig and you'll find it.

Regards & welcome,

The one thing I would say is just enjoy it, I recently experienced Upper Class for the first time last week and it really is something to be enjoyed.

I think the only suggestion I have is to check-in in plenty of time to make full use of the clubhouse, particularly if you wish to have a look at Duty Free as well. I'm sure all the staff will make you very comfortable and ensure you get the most from from the flight and experience.

Have a great flight and trip!

Hi Peanut and welcome.

If you booked through VH your upper class ticket will be Z fare therefore no limo service. I am just back from ANU, there and back UC and overall it was good ( see trip report for updates). I agree with the others and arrive early to enjoy all the facilities in the clubhouse. You will be able to pre book the V-Touch salon for shave, haircut, leg wax;)

I also recommend the sauasage sannie:D.

Enjoy,

Iain

Hi,

I would go for the Hilton personally, via ABC holiday extras. That way you can walk directly into the airport and not have to get on any buses in the morning. Also I personally much prefer the new wing at the Gatwick Hilton and for this you have to request a executive room. Slightly more but well worth it. Also I think you can get miles so hand in you FC card when you check in/out.

We have stayed in both the Hilton and Le meridian.
LM is better in terms of rooms, but Hilton beats it in our eyes, for the short walk in the cold mornings direct into the terminal, just don't you DARE try to take a trolly to your room!! :D

Hi,

By the way I would not bother using twilight check in as you are flying UC. It is such a great feeling walking into the UC queue (If there is one) with everyone else stuck in queues.

You mean you play the game of 'spot the odd couple in the Y queue that are all suited up expecting an upgrade' too? You just want to walk up to them in your shorts and t-shirt after whizzing thru J check in and say 'This is not BA you know....!' :D

Hi,

Cant wait for that, we have all tried getting op upped and you know the only sure fire way of being in UC is putting your hands deep in pockets and splashing the cash (Or putting a huge dent in the Credit Card).

Yep, gotta love walking up. There was about 30 ppl queuing for PE when I went up to the UC check in at LHR. You can see the older couples dressed up in tehir fancy clothes. I was wearing some skater type clothes and looked well out of place but, you gotta love the look on the security guys face when he realises your in the right queue after all.

My favourite bit was when the Gold in PE was at the door of the plane asking the IFS to be upgraded. I said excuse me and walked to the left...

More satisfying as a child is...

Flyign to MCO for my 21st, I'm in J, rest of family are in Y (albeit the front row). At the door, showing BP's and then waving good bye to the parents as they turn right and I turn left :) Flight crew were most amused.

Then in May this year, I thought it best to take my parents in J with me (as it was their 25th Wedding Anniversary), and my two siblings back in Y. Again at the door, 3 of us turn left, and the other two turn right, I sarcastically tell my two siblings to enjoy the delights of Steerage - CSM has been told in advance that we were on the flight, so he asks me how come I get to sit in J with my parents - reply 'Who's miles do you think paid for this?' Queue two large smiles.

Thanks,
Richard

Maybe we could have some token V-Flyer cravats made - why follow the norm of luggage tags? :)

Thanks,
