Virgin Australia Business - How many tier points and miles?

Hi,

I'm planning to use my flying club number for the miles awarded when using Virgin Australia later this year.

Does anyone know what % ratio is used for miles and how many tier points are awarded when flying business class on internal flights less than 2000 miles each?

Thanks in advance.

Taken from the Virgin website

Not too sure on tier points earned but here is the mileage chart for Virgin Australia
Earn miles

Cabin Booking Class % Mileage flown
Full Business Class J,C 200%
Discounted Business D,I 150%
Premium Economy W,R,O 125%
Economy Y,B,H,K,L 100%
Discounted Economy E,N,V,Q,T,U,S,M,G 50%

hope this helps

It's 150% of base mileage for VA domestic business according to this table (which looks to be a year or two old based on the Little Red info so don't take it as gospel):

This page should help with the Tier Points question

I found these pages previously but unfortunately none state tier points for short haul internal business class only economy/premium economy.

Thanks for the mileage information.

Do you also know if you still get awarded as a business class flyer when purchased through their upgrade auction system?

As far as i know there is no PE on VA's short haul aircraft, so I would guess the PE TP's as the ones awarded for Business Class.

As for the bid upgrade, as VA only give their Velocity members the miles/points based on the original fare, I would assume VS apply the same rule. Also remember that you don't get the upgraded baggage allowance on a bid upgrade.

When I flew VA last year, the miles and tier points were added as per the page posted by Hamster above. That was long haul Brisbane to Denpassar, Bali. So I guess that Hamster's other note is correct that you will receive miles at PE rates.

My Flying Club statement (as below) correctly shows the tier points (4) and the 150% of actual miles flown.

I also used some of my VS FC miles to buy flights over there. Sydney to Brisbane was just 12,500 miles plus £11 per person in economy!

Thanks both.

Martin, was your BC seat a bid upgrade or did you purchase a business flight on your original ticket?

I bought a Business seat on my original ticket when V Aus had a sale on. My guess is that your miles/tier points will be based on your original ticket. If you get them based on the bid upgraded seat, I'd treat that as a bonus!

I've booked a business class seat from SYD to AUckland on Virgin Australia. I was assured by phone by FC that this would earn 4TPs. It's <2000miles but is considered international the FC page http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... oints.html is not clear. The booking is definitely termed Business Class not PE, but I fear I'll end up earring just 1 TP

Also, if any one knows, now that SQ have introduced PE, do we still only earn 2TP in PE for >2000 miles? It seems quite a jump to 5TPs in Biz Class, and wondered if long haul in PE on SQ flights may be worth 3TP?

Any insight gratefully received.

Thanks
