Going to Orland next year and found it interesting from reading this forum that during the summer months the Virgin flight is late departing/ arriving over 60% of the time which seems high. Are these usually just small delays i.e. Just outside the 15mins cut off or are we looking at a fair chance of being significantly delayed

According to Flightradar the last two VS71s were just under 30 mins late arriving.

The LGW 747s which operate that route are worked very hard and don't have much recovery time so do get delayed quite regularly, therefore it would be sensible to allow for delays (a good idea anyway given the lottery that is immigration at MCO).

It really is a how long is a piece of string question. Delays happen for various reasons, and even using averages doesn't always give a true picture. I would never worry about potential delays, if they happen you have no option but to deal with them at the time.

Living and working next to GLA I see or hear these planes every day they fly, they're the only jumbo to regularly operate from GLA so it's a unique rumble (incidentally my kids know the 9.30pm Emirates is bedtime).

The only issue is Glasgow struggling to get the big planes away on time, the gates are hopelessly configured for loading a 747. They always seem to run 20-30 mins late, a significant delay is pretty rate. It's also worth noting the flight times, even if it's an hour late it will still beat the Manchester and Gatwick flights into a gloriously empty customs hall at MCO.
