UC redemption to NY - was it good value?

I've just booked two UC redemption seats for October (LHR-EWR / JFK-LHR) at a cost of 160,000 miles plus £950 in charges.
Is that decent value? I asked about using my companion or PE upgrade vouchers I have but it was either bringing the cost way up or simply not available.

It is what it is. A reward fare is going to cost you those set miles,
The money is the taxes and other fees, and again pretty fixed.
So with 160000 miles to burn it is a perfectly good way to use them.

Compared to a straight cash fare it obviously offers a good saving. Was is the best use of your miles, in terms of straight value of miles, then probably not, but everyone has their own different circumstances and wants/needs so it's never clear cut.

Thanks - just wanted to make sure I hadn't made a schoolboy error!

I have done this exact same thing in November 2013. We did it because we needed to burn a few miles and I was verging on leaving VS, but this backfired when the trip was so damn good! If you have the miles, I think it's a good way to use them up (I always worry about devaluations). I've booked a trip to BGI in a few weeks, again solely using miles. But IMHO it isn't the best option, the M upgrade is usually better value and only costs a little more in pound notes.
