Looking to build my points for 2017 (or maybe upgrade summer 2016)
Aside from the following can anyone else recommend
Amex Preferred s (recycle every 6-7 months)
Topcashback to clubcard (£50 pa)
Clubcard
Virgin Atlantic Credit card spends
I'm looking at taking out starwood card for 10k will this cause problems due to having had the Amex Preferred Rewards card recently?
Also does the Virgin Atlantic card allow recycling?
Appreciate any tips?

Virgin Money Tracker ISA - 5000 miles
Tesco Life Insurance - 5000 clubcard points (12,500 miles)
Clubcard Auto-Convert to Flying Club - 2,000 miles
Rocketmiles offers a 3,000 miles bonus on your first hotel booking + whatever miles you get for your booking.
Shops away is a good place to earn miles - I got over 8,000 miles for one NY hotel booking on expedia.

How long does it take for the Tesco CC points to post? And how long does it need to be active for?

Thanks forgot to mention the life assurance, got that. Also used the auto covert bonus as well which i think is a once only thing.
Shops away i also use.
Will look at the ISA though, would be a good way of setting aside cash for the flight tax.

The auto convert would show at the end of the quarter i guess? A manual transfer is overnight - just done £5 worth as was 700 miles short of the 54,000 i need for 3x LGW-CUN should they ever appear.

ISAs are medium-long term savings vehicles and as it is a share isa you may not get the money back what you put into it. Also you won't be able to open another shares ISA this year. For the offer there is a minimum funding requirement. And if you don't keep it open for 6 months they can take the miles back
And pedant note the largest element of the 'flight tax' is the VS carrier imposed / fuel surcharge surcharge which is not a tax.

I meant how long do you need to have the life insurance active for before the 5,000 miles get credited to your Clubcard account?

Perhaps if you looked at the T&Cs!
Buying a product - especially a financial one - based on getting bonus miles is really not a good idea.
You seem to have forgotten about buying the miles direct from VS

Couldn't find any T&Cs about the offer earlier as they're not in the main T&C booklet. If anyone else is looking, hit the 'more about this offer' on the Tesco Life Insurance home page.
"The 5000 Clubcard points will be allocated as 1,250 points over 4 quarterly Clubcard statements.
The first 1,250 points will be applied after three monthly premiums have been paid."
So £60 for 12,500 miles over the course of 12 months or you can buy the same for £180. But I do agree with Tontybear and not worth the investment for me.

If you book hotels, and doing it via hotels.com, 6 miles per pound spent. Plus they sometimes have good offers, such as double that, I got about 14K for a weeks booking in Cancun once near Christmas.

compare shop away to topcashback - see which will give you the most miles.
Other option is to churn proper AMEX Cards & VA AMEX cards just to trigger the bonus.
Amex points can be converted 1:1 miles.

E-Rewards,
not a great earner but I usually manage 4000 miles a year by opting for every survey. Even if you don't qualify for the survey you still get some of their points. You then spend their points to buy V miles.

I do sometimes have a fair bit of spare time as I'm retired from one career and self employed in my current one which is dependant on getting a call for my services. Sometimes busy sometimes not.
I think the trick with E-Rewards is not to get bogged down thinking about an answer. Click on all of them and pick up lots of 50 points for not participating.

How often can you churn the VA Amex cards? Is its annually? I know standard AMEX is 6 months.
Sheep?

Technically vs cards can not be churned. It's supposedly one bonus per card per lifetime but several people on flyer talk claim to have gotten the bonus more than once. It used to explicitly say this in the t&c's but somebody posted recently that this has disappeared so maybe the policy has changed?

Thanks, I'm considering taking out the VS Black card as i have to renew my annual train ticket and this will (unfortunately) hit the spend target.
As i already have the white cards would this cause a problem?

Black & white are separate cards. I hold both.
Just be aware on the fee for the Black Card.
