Transaero 748-800's

According to press statements, Transaero are bankrupt and are about to cease flying - don't know if Russia have a "Chapter 11" setup like the USA, but Transaero have 4 747-800's on order with 3 either built or on final assembly.
Wonder if Virgin or indeed Boeing might be tempted to do another "Alitalia" and but/sell them at a knock down price ?
Might be a cheaper way of adding some extra capacity.

It wouldn't change the fact that a 748i is less economical than the largest twin-jet and it hasn't been a top seller in passenger config for Boeing, but if Boeing offer a deal that's too good to turn down and throw in things such as crew training then who knows? Delta have form for buying second-hand aircraft and/or holding on to aircraft that other operators have long since withdrawn for more modern/economical types, so maybe they might influence VS to go down a similar route? Guess it depends on whether VS are more interested in whole life costs (which will tip the balance in favour of twins) or could be tempted by cheap, brand new aircraft that's an updated version of a type which they've operated for more than 30 years.
It would also get round the dilemma (if it could be called that) of a drop in capacity per flight in the summer months.
That said, I'm personally still sceptical that a 748i will appear in VS colours as much as the thought of it sounds appealing!
