I am new to the forum and have been reading trip reports with interest.

We have booked our virgin flights for next summer flying DUB-LHR-SFO. LAS-MAN-DUB in Upper Class.

We are starting from Newcastle and flying to Dublin the night before. As we have a through ticket from Dub to SFO via LHR our luggage will be checked through from Dublin.

When transferring terminals at LHR, would you use internal terminal transfer bus or exit the terminal and get a taxi to DTCI to get full experience of UC?!!

Many thanks

DTCI is great but IMHO it's really not worth an unnecessary cab fare if you've already checked in and have no luggage. You'd miss the whole point of it - arriving in style to find them waiting, bag check tags in hand, to whisk your luggage away and check you in.

Staying airside and going through Flight Connections is decidedly less glamorous but you'll still get to use the Clubhouse which is far more important!

I'd second what gumshoe has said.
London cabbies have to accept all fares from the rank outside the terminal but you're likely to get some ( very) sarcastic and rude comments if you jump in and ask to go round to DTCI. They hate even going to hotels on the Bath Rd . One cabbie tried to refuse me as a fare to the Sheraton until I called the rank supervisor over and he insisted the cabbie take me. The cabbie was really unpleasant so received the appropriate tip . Nothing !!!!

Good for you DL. And black cabbies wonder why Uber's taking all their business (though that's a whole new can of worms).
