HI,
I know this may have been posted a hundred times but I can't seem to refine my search enough to find it. We have our first UC flight coming up in May and no one has currently booked any seats in the cabin so I was wondering where are the best seats. We are a couple and I know people say 6A/K is a good shout but I've read other posts that say 8A and 9A are better? Any advice, I know there is a bit of personal opinion here as well but just wanting to get the best seats I can.
thanks

I'm firmly in the 6A/K camp.
It's easier to communicate, and the extra little shelf at the front is very handy.

6A/K are angled more at a right angle towards the direction of travel, so I'd not fly them, they make me feel nauseous.
7A/K is less of an angle but still slightly more than an angle than normal seats, I have flown in that one, and it did have an effect on me...
Sometimes you've got to accept that you've chosen to fly Upper, and it's not really built to sit together. If you want to sit together, the footstool and the bar are the way to do it.
For me, 6 is the worst seats, 7 bit less, rest are fine (never had issues with noise or toilets with ones at the back).

I'm in the Neil rather than Smid camp on this one - 6A/K.
If you have a lot of hand luggage, you need to be aware they don't have overhead lockers.

Another 6A/K vote from me. The two downsides are lack of overhead locker space and the smaller than normal flip down shelf for your drinking glass. This means you must be careful not to hit the reading light with your glass of bubbly.

Mrs D relaxing in 6A
As to the overhead locker, just get on first and nick the nearest one or get the cabin crew to stow your bag.
43 days to go before we occupy 6A and 6K again.

Def 6A & 6K for us on a 747, our last two UC flights have been on other VS aircraft & although good do not imho compare to seats in the 747 A zone

6A & 6K for me, too -- I am rather prone to motion sickness, and I have no issue with sitting in these, perhaps with the exception of the very brief moment of landing.

Thanks everyone, I spoke to the other half and he doesn't want to be right in the nose and said we can just go the bar and maybe have dinner together. On a side question, I'm guessing the chances of G's appearing for the return are slim to none? I spoke to FC yesterday and they said the plane is currently very under booked and she was as sure as she could be that PE will come up as an upgrade and based on the current booking there is a 50/50 chance Gs will come up. So my question is what's everyone best guestimate of price increase to change my economy bucket to M? Looking back I should have just booked PE as they were only wanting £130 more and 3000 miles as I booked an M+M but at the time I was just focusing on getting the cheap UC seats.
Thanks for all your help. Really enjoying the forum.

I always go 8/9 a or k. Not too near front or bar and has o/head access and not to close to other side. Wife or I just lean over and chat etc

I've mentioned this before in other threads, but I regard the LGW 747's as not really having bad seats (apart from my preferences about avoiding the front ones).
On BA flights, you kind of need to having seat selection, be it paid, or going on a wee trip to get status to select them (avios value + seat selection costs means its actually worth doing an ex-dub to somewhere in a sale to do this).
BA seat selection is fraught with difficulties. Prefer facing forward? Don't want exposed to the corridor? Don't want to climb over people? Don't want climbed over?
VS? I'd not complain if they changed to paid seat selection (at least on the LGW 747s). Because in UC it is just not an issue. Of course PE is an issue a bit, probably most so in economy, and getting that upper deck... But I'd not upper deck on PE.

thanks everyone as I said we've gone 8/9A. I'll let you all know in our TR how it all goes. Im just praying some G availably comes up now for the return. I know its a very popular journey so not holding my breath. I think I'm becoming a little obsessed checking the virgin site though. If not we'll be stuck in economy and after benign UC on the way out I know I'll want to cry.

It's probably unlikely on an LAS flight with only 14 seats in UC as it's a very busy route but if there are still empty seats on the day you may be able to upgrade at the airport.

We were very lucky to get 2 Gs out and back for LAS for March. We had 6A & K booked within seconds of the booking. Very excited.
