Boarding Passes

Hi all,

I have just checked in for my flight to IAD tomorrow. Completed the online check in, usually it comes up to print or select the mobile pass option, but this time it came up with choosing seat, and head to bag drop.
Is this the norm?, I have had a e-mail confirmation come through. First time flying with VS from LHR.
Thank you!

hmm, usually you get the boarding pass, have you entered your advance passenger info etc?

try going back into the booking and see if it offers you the chance to print/download your boarding pass

otherwise you'll need to collect it at checkin

Even though we do online check in, we always get our boarding passes at bag drop. When we used to print them off at home, they always tore them up and issued "proper" ones, so we stopped doing it!

Thanks for the quick responses. I had entered all the advance info etc. Ive logged on again, but no option to re-print. I'll can get them issued at the Bag drop. Am I right in reading that the desks are in Zone 2 at the moment.

Not sure if it's related but there does seem to be (yet more) issues with the VS website.

I've noticed that the front page isn't loading properly for me here since at least yesterday (the usual background images are not loading) and every so often I get a '404 page not found' error when clicking on random links or even just loading the VS website from my favourites.

We always pick up the card boarding pass at bag drop. I have tried the mobile pass and while it worked my phone kept turning off in the queue. I could probably have found a setting to stop it but much easier to get a card. I have had the home printed version but had problems at the gate with it being machine read.

In my experience, when OLCI will not issue a boarding pass (even when you re-visit your checked-in booking) it means that one or more of your party have been SSSS'd. SSSS = Selected for Secondary Security Screening.

This just means the "light will go red" at the gate when the passenger(s) concerned boarding passes are scanned. You will then have your carry-on baggage inspected (normally quite thoroughly) by a security agent before you can board.

Why OLCI works like this I don't know. The barcode on the boarding pass is all that matters - if the barcode printed at home is the same as the one on an airport issued boarding pass (suspect it is) then why not just issue the boarding pass? And printing SSSS on the airport issued boarding pass is a joke too - it's a "hello" to anyone with bad intent that you are going to get secondary screening before you board the flight.

Thanks Kraken, I had a thought this could be the case.
