I am taking my mum to New York for a special birthday

I managed to get a great ex dub flight , but it doesn't come with limo transfers, however I have some spare miles so noticed that you can arrange the limo for 17500 miles, just wondered if you think it is worth the miles or would I be better off just get a cab outside the terminal

Thanks

You can only pay the 17,500 miles for the limo if you are on a 'G' reward UC ticket.

And 17,500 miles is terrible value - assuming you value them at 1p each that's £175 for a glorified taxi. Only really useful for those with miles to burn - otherwise there are far better ways to spend them.

Carmel Limo offer a good service www.carmellimo.com with choice of car at varying prices on flat rates for transfers into Manhattan. Or use Uber, again you can select type of vehicle if you want something a bit classy.

TBH if its a treat - however nice a limo sounds, I am sure she would want an authentic trip & ride in authentic NY Taxi!

Dont forget - its fixed price fee for the airport

A trip in a New York taxi is about as far from a treat as I can imagine! Badly driven by surly drivers, dirty and cramped. I wouldn't get in one if you paid me.

Uber are 100 times better. And, as mentioned Carmel are great too.

A New York taxi from JFK is bottom of my list of options.

Also, absolutely do not fall prey to the hawkers who hang around in arrivals asking if you want a car - they'll rip you off badly. Always prebook or take a yellow cab if you have to. You can normally get a nice limo for $85 upward to take you into the city and be met by someone holding up you name in arrivals.

Prices are fixed for transfers to around $50 (exc tip & tolls)
You shouldn't be paying more than that for a basic transfer - either in a taxi or normal car.

The 17500 miles /£175 is not as bad as it sound, as you would prob pay $200+ for a proper limo.

At today's exchange rate, that's about £140 so still cheaper.

That depends on how the individual values miles. If your not going to bother collecting Virgin Miles again, then may as well use them.
