Virgin Atlantic gets a new home at Gatwick

This email in today on vsflyinghub:

From 25 January, we’re moving all our operations at Gatwick from the South to North Terminal.
We’ve worked hard to make sure your customers’ experience of flying with us to and from Gatwick is better than ever.
Our new check in area on the second floor will be lighter, brighter and easy to get to. It’ll have more kiosks to help speed up check in and bag drop – especially during the morning peak. We’ll continue to offer Twilight Check In so customers with early flights can drop off their bags between 5:00pm and 9:00pm the evening before.
We’re building a brand new Clubhouse so your customers can still get their holiday off to a stylish and relaxing start. If they’re arriving in one of our chauffeur driven cars, Upper Class drop off is right outside the check in area. Virgin Holidays customers will be able to enjoy a shiny new v-room, built and designed just for them.
Gatwick Airport has improved the North Terminal’s security area. They’ve added in more security lanes and invested in better technology to halve the amount of time it takes to pass through security. And once customers get to the other side, they’ll be greeted by lots of new, exciting shops and restaurants such as Jo Malone, Ted Baker, Harrods, Comptoir Libanais and Jamie’s Italian.

Yep, not long now.

The old BA Club lounge, while distinctly average in its service, was a nice space with great views so I can't wait to see what VS have done with it.

I'm pretty sure the Virgin bit will be wonderful, the rest of the North Terminal however ......

I have to agree with David. North Terminal is dire.

To be fair it's improving. Brand new security area, virtually identical to the very efficient South one. The owners are investing a lot of money, as they've done at South.

It looks like they are spending £21 million on the North Terminal departure lounge.

I wonder how long that will take ?

So what does 'shared operational space" mean ?
Will the clubhouse be accessible to all at the entry price regardless of booking ?

Back room areas like the kitchen / staff / storage areas will be shared.

Remember the v-room is a different product from the VS CH.

V-Hols will also be offering CH entry (£55) for people booking holidays with them (from 1st Feb) but not sure if anyone else will be able to get paid on the day entry.

Thanks Tontybear.

Will be interesting to compare the new clubhouse with the existing one which IMO was excellent.
