Hi,

Booked a 2 flights with FC on 30th September, both my partner and I paid using our own credit cards. Neither of us has had the payments taken from our cards yet. Does it always take this long ??

Should I be concerned ???

Have you received any emails or confirmations?
If your flight isnt for a while I wouldn't worry too much..
However you should still have received a confirmation

Virgin usally give you a reference number.
You can use this to check the booking status here

If you cant find your flight or have no confirmation I'd contact Virgin

Hi,

Yep have booking ref no email confirmation yet though, can find booking on the VA site, have picked seats etc. Just the payment not gone through on credit cards yet.

In that case Jason, I wouldn't worry.

I'm not sure if it's changed recently, but I used to work in credit cards and once an authorisation had been made (ie the amount for your flight) the funds are held until VS actually take the money. They have anything up to 30 days to take the money off a card, depending on the provider.

They're usually in no rush, as it costs them per withdrawal, so they quite often bunch a load of payments together and draw them at the end of the week or even weeks

On a recent complicated booking for the family - you can read the details here http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2738- VS have taken payment form myself and daughter travelling on revenue fares but have not taken tax payment for my wife and infant (unborn) who are on companion and miles fares.

No idea why the difference.

Hi

I have spoken to the FC now and they have confirmed the booking is ok but the ticket office is processing the bookings in date order and since mine is not till march 05 they may take up to the end of October till the fully process this. I was also advised I booked a Miles Plus Money fare (Not true I only had 500 miles left in my account) I booked a Z Class. Most strange.

I booked a Z fare last Saturday for May 05 and received my confirmation email on Tuesday. I don't know whether the money has gone from my card as I deliberately chose that weekend to book as the cut-off date for my credit card bill was Friday! I won't see it for a month.

So did I - book over the phone, that is. I can't use the website as the billing address has to be the same as country of departure [:(]

It IS normal for the taking of the payment to take so long.

You dont have anything to worry about.
