Chauffeur by spending miles?

On the "Spend Miles" page there's a quote:
"Taking a reward flight in Upper Class? Go all out and book a chauffeur too. You know you want to" - and saying you can exchange 17,500 for a Chauffeur service one way.
I am taking a Upper Class flight, but with a fare code that doesn't come with a free chauffeur - do you think I can exchange miles or is it only available for reward flights?

Only for reward flights. And it’s a terrible use of miles - assuming you value them at 1p each that’s £175 for a glorified taxi.

Not wishing to hijack this thread, but it is sort of relevant.
Can anyone recommend a good taxi service from Heathrow hotels to the DTCI?
Going next Feb and thought we would lash out on £31 for the Premier Inn next to T4 Hilton, then get a taxi to DTCI
Back up plan for no show taxi or a sudden snow storm can be to use the tube.

We stayed at the T4 Hilton a couple of years ago and in morning went to concierge desk to arrange a taxi to take us to T3 checkin.
To my surprise an S Class Merc arrived and after asking what class we were flying in, took us straight to the DTCI. (Just pressed the buzzer at the bottom of the Drive and gave our name, no prebooking or phone call). Think the driver was as excited as us

And the punchline, including the tip, it was only £40
Don’t know if this was a deal with the Hilton but the desk at the Premier might have something similar.

‘Only’ £40 to get from T4 to T3???!!!
An Uber would have been about £15.

Thanks for that David & Gumshoe. I recall paying £17 from the Renaissance 12 years ago and that one is even closer so £40 doesn't seem bad.
Only downside we will have 4 large cases and possibly 5 so I don't think a saloon would cope.

We are travelling 6.5.18 and staying at the Marriott Heathrow the night before. I have booked Parker Cars again ( 020 8560 0000 or email
[email protected] ). I find them good for service and puctuality and best of all for price. We have booked a larger vehicle to take 3 cases etc and the cost is £11.50. We can phone before leaving and they will give us vehicle details to speed entry to DTCI. Driver phones before arrival usually.
recommend them.
Have a good trip.

£11.50 is reasonable.
£40 for a journey from one terminal to another is, frankly, a rip-off - S-Class or no S-Class. I bet the Hilton concierge is on a nice little earner for arranging that.

Agreed, £40 is insane for such a short journey! And who cares about S-Class comfort for a 5 minute drive? Bizarre.

Thanks,
I have emailed Parker for a quote.

And just got a reply by email £18.40 for an estate car.

So I have splashed out on a room at the Premier Inn for £31.50
We stayed at Gatwick Premier in Feb and were pleased with it so hope this is the same.

I used the 17K miles and had the car from SFO airport to our hotel and it was well worth it.

We did the same a few years ago to get up into Napa and it was worth it. I don’t think I’d use it in the UK though.
