G-VBOB has been transferred to an A330-900, G-VNHS 'MATRON' has been mentioned as a possible registration.
G-VEWR could be MSN 2018, G-VJAX could be MSN 2025, G-VMIX could be MSN 2030 and G-VRIO could be MSN 2034
Possible MSN numbers for subsequent A/C possibly are 2046 and 2053...

Won't happen, nor will the NHS one.

The next A339, G-VTOM will be delivered on 17th November.

The third A339 (G-VLDY) should be delivered by the end of the year. Test registration F-WWCT.

The fourth A339 will be MSN 2029.

Hi

I see the next VS 339 will reuse the name previously carried by VEIL a 346 long since retired

G-VEII will honour Her late Majesty. Unusual to reuse a name, but totally worthwhile in this case

Hey guys. G-VEII completed its last test flight on 20/03/23. No one online has reported on it but I am a planespotter as well as an enthusiast and I have filmed G-VJAZ, G-VTOM, and G-VLDY getting delivered at Heathrow and I would like to keep the streak going. Does anyone have any info as to when it will be delivered so I don't miss it?

Regards,
Luke

G-VSXY/KSS/LUV/GEM have recently had heavy maintenance checks done in Xiamen. Virgin has stated that all A330-300s will have left the fleet by 2026.

There are also a few outstanding A350 deliveries in addition to the neos, and bearing in mind the decision to bring forward 747 withdrawals instead of waiting for their replacements and the ex-Air Berlin A330-200s never working again beyond March 2020, it's probably left VS a number of aircraft short in the interim. With pretty much everywhere on the VS network now open for business again and with new routes in the offing (Seoul, Male and Providenciales) despite certain other pre-pandemic routes not returning, the existing fleet are no doubt useful backfillers in the short-term until more new aircraft are delivered.

That said, the -300s are probably looking quite tired now, particularly the Economy and PE cabins (UCS seats were only fitted about 5 or so years ago), so if shabby aircraft are turn-off they may be ones to avoid where you can.

If the 4 A330-300s previously mentioned have undergone 'C4' checks, they should be almost as good as new when they re-enter service. This check is usually performed every six years. The entire aircraft is dismantled and put back together. Everything in the cabin is taken out (seats, toilets, galleys, overhead bins) so engineers can inspect the metal skin of the aircraft, inside out. All worn components are refurbished or replaced. G-VSXY & G-VKSS re-entered service in mid January, G-VLUV in mid February. G-VGEM only came back from Xiamen last week. G-VINE should be the next aircraft to be done.

They don't. The A350's are the only A/C with cameras.

Things change. The returned aircraft have had lots spent on them. New lighting, new bathroom floors and vanities etc. They will all be upgraded by the end of the year with new leather in premium and new seat covers and padding in economy.

They are only 12 years old. Plenty of life in them.

That's good about the upholstery etc. being refreshed in the interim. My observations of the Economy and PE cabins on G-VRAY and G-VUFO last year were that they had been well used and had seen better days.

The entire A330-300 fleet were only fitted with their current Upper seats about 5-7 years ago after they replaced the UCDS seats, some of them are on their third config in 12 years as the first two/three were delivered with two-class (Y and PE) configs. I will be surprised if they're updated, but then they did swap out the old Air Berlin business class seats for something different that only saw about 12 months or so use in the end after they tried to get away with dressing them up a bit.
