It was reported before pandemic that VS will likely refurb their 787s around 22/23

I was wondering if anyone has any insights on this ?

They will probably be done when the older ones start going for their heavy maintenance checks (just guessing). The B787 should not require a D Check until it is coming up to 10 years old, so they will possibly start around mid 2024.

They're desperately in need of a repaint - particularly the wings - I know Air NZ have send their 789s away for wing repainting recently in advance of their full refits starting in FY25. VS will therefore likely follow late next year with their D Checks resulting in an upgrade internally.
