Sounds a bit stupid - but was it?

The reason I ask, is that I was on VS155 on the 4th Jan and when both me and my friend (both on separate bookings etc) arrived and our phones came back on line, were both greeted with messages from Virgin saying that our flight (that we'd just sat on for 10 hours) had been cancelled. They were very sorry.. etc.. etc.. and would be in touch to book us on an alternative flight. They seemed pretty convinced that our flight was cancelled!

I don't know if this is a regular occurrence.

Virgin Atlantic and IT are not good friends.
