Hi all.

I’m planning on flying to PVG on VS and transferring onto China Eastern to Manila. Likely separate tickets, but hoping to interline baggage.

I can’t work out if it need a visa for China or not, as I question if the connection needs to be on the same ticket.

Anyone know?

On separate tickets, as far as VS is concerned your journey would end in PVG and you'd need to adhere to the entry requirements.

Thanks, even if I were able to show the onward ticket at check-in? I would imagine they could into line bags as part of sky team anyhow.

This website from the China Visa Application Service Centre in the UK says you do not need a visa if you are travelling onwards to a third country within 24 hours: -
