LHR Premium Economy seats

I have booked my first Virgin Atlantic roundtrip (a Virgin virgin ;^)) between LHR from SFO through the travel agent used by my company. I purchased non-refundable premium economy and the travel agent assigned me seats 76A and 76H respectively stating that they were on the upper deck. After finding this site I see that these seats are actually in the middle row of the three premium economy rows on the main deck. I have never flown on the upper deck of a 747 and was looking forward to the experience.

What is the best way for me to procure upper deck seats? Call my travel agent and ask them to do so or ask when I check in at the airport?

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin, and welcome to V-Flyer :)

Your best bet prior to travel is probably to ring Virgin directly and see if you can change them - otherwise it's a request at check-in.

(BTW, have you signed up for Flying Club membership? If so, ring your FC number to request the change - if not, if you want to be referred, send me a PM with your name & email address :))

Cheers

Michael

Hi Martin,

First of all welcome to V-Flyer!

Err I think you may have read the seatmap wrong - 76A & H are not in the middle of row. One is a window, and one is an aisle with a big space between them!

You can call Virgin up and ask for a seat upstaris, you want rows 70 to 74 to be on the upper deck:

Thanks,
Richard

In fairness to the original poster (welcome Martin!) his description was accurate - there are three ROWS of PE there and he is in the middle row - not the middle seat. Otherwise Michael and Richard have the best idea!

Ahh okay then - the front row of PE will not be available to pre-book (Row 70).

Thanks,
Richard

Thank-you everyone for your help. I just called Virgin and their representative also told me that all premium economy seats were on the upper deck. Because of this web site I knew this was not true so I asked for new seat assignements in rows 70-74. I was assigned 72A and 74K. Looks to be a great trip. [8D]

Thanks again...
Martin

I just returned from my first trip on Virgin Atlantic and they earned a customer for life. I flew both ways on VHOT, Tubular Belle. This plane has Upper Class suites and the V-Port entertainment system. I had seat Premium Economy 72A on the flight to LHR and 74K assigned on my return to SFO. 72A was comfortable, much better than standard economy, but not quite as roomy as I had hoped. I had tried to purchase an upgrade to Upper Class for this leg of the trip as it was an overnight flight but the plane was sold out. The flight back was a day flight so I was content with my Premium Economy seat. Imagine my surprise when I was upgraded at the gate to Upper Class (18K) on my return flight, only my second leg with Virgin. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will always fly Virgin whenever I am on one of their routes. I know I won't be upgraded everytime but this once was good enough to make me a loyal V-Flyer for life.

Cheers,
Martin

Welcome to V-Flyer! :o)

The PE upper deck is a great place to fly ... unless your super lucky enough to get a free upgrade to the Suite. I'm only jealous - glad you enjoyed it, are you like me now - sucked in and screwed because you only want to fly UC now?

Foz :o)

Hi Martin, glad you enjoyed your flights and that you are no longer a virgin virgin :). You certainly had a bit of luck with the upgrade, nice seat for the bar 18K ;)as Foz says, once bitten and all that!
