Looks like Hong Kong airport is pretty confident VS will be flying to Sydney from 1st September. They're even publishing the flight number VS500 on their website at

Seems good news.
I wonder how the tier points will 'work' on a LHR to Sydney ticket. For UC, will it be 5 or 10 for the total one way trip? I have bought SQ Raffles class to Sydney via Singapore and the total trip has yielded 20 VS tier points and hence a long way to AU renewal on just one trip.
I wonder also if VS will continue to award tier points on SQ flights to Sydney as these will be competing. You can get Raffles class to Sydney for less than £2.5k.
