Apart from the obvious UCS boarding card , passport etc., what do you always make sure you have with you when you fly?

I never leave home without my Bose noise-cancelling headphones, laptop to watch MY choice of DVD on, Priority Pass Lounge List and a good book.

V-Flyer lapel pin and a smile?

I normally take my QC2 headphones, plus my laptop to play DVD's and to burn pictures to discs.
However, I have just got a new Sony Vaio laptop and have made a BIG mistake!
The DVD drive is a Matsu****a/Panasonic drive and cannot play other than Region 2 dvd's, as no software will make it change its region setting.
Curse you Sony/Matsu****a/Panasonic! [:(!]

I take my nicoteenell inhaler as I am a smoker ( bad I know ) I don't actually do anything with it apart from chew the plastic but its a comfort thing I think.

When I arrange holidays I do all the pre stuff, buy flights, book hotels, limo's excursions etc, then I give all the documents to my partner and he takes over from there, he's like my PA once the holidays starts and he loves it, so I think about nothing but take in the atmosphere and enjoy the moment.

A little quirk I always take a wetwipe to clean my IFE screen as they always have smudges on them.

I usually travel Economy but that doesn't stop me bringing everything on so long as my luggage fits in the overhead bin. I usually travel light, a roller and shoulder bag. I always suffer from dry lips (even though I drink plenty of water and juice) so lip balm is essential for me. Not the horrible coloured ones from the Body Shop, but vitamin-e enriched.

Used to take my laptop but partner has kinda banned me from taking it because of the grief it causes at US customs - although i can make a 10 hour flight dissapear by playing RollerCoaster Tycoon all the way!!

The only disadvantage I've found with taking a copy of the V-Book on board with me is the crew try and nick it

Highflyer, you mention that handbag a lot, I get the impression its very precious to you, I am the same with my Cartier Wallet and erm belt, pens watch etc. Everyone has a label they're proud of huh.

Aspirin, paracetamol,PAssport,Flight socks, Laptop [ sony Vaio with 16" screen, so good to watch DVD's on], WORMS 3d DVD's, i-POD, Earplanes for take off and landing [ yes they do work] moisturiser, digital camera and DVC, a good long book and some MELATONIN for Jet Lag [ yep it works] all in a handy Targus laptop bag, and a favourite Radley handbag that has a seaside scene on Think I will add the Bose headphones onto that list - never thought of that before. Will definitely get some airborne tablets too!
my son takes his PSP, and I am wowed by the quality of it!

My tiny green jade Buddha in its red silk purse so the plane doesnÕt enter the Òcontrolled flight into terrainÓ scenario [xx(]
And for the last couple of years, a little Macmillan Bear (raising funds as he travels the world) [:I]

This reminds me, if someone can find it, there was an excellent thread on Flyer Talk along the long lines of "top air travel tips" - and there were some cracking ones on there (for instance email yourself your itinerary and other details, so when you forget to take them with you, the first time you collect emails when you're away, you get your travel and itinerary details delivered to you automatically wherever you are...)

I use a yahoo email for my travel itinaries etc for that very reason:D

I find the Clubhouse is a great place to reprint lost itinaries etc

On the subject of etickets (I once forgot my VS one!) Carry a postit with the short reference on it in your wallet and your eticket can be printed at the ticket desk..

Somewhere on the internet (cannot for the life of me remember what the URL is) there's a web site that has region-free firmwares for most lap-top and PC DVD drives. My Compaq lap-top DVD drive was region 2 locked but I downloaded the region free firmware and it now works with any region DVD now.

I hear ya - I bought an Acer Ferrari laptop last year and it has a slot loading Matsush1ta DVD/RW which can't have its Region code changed (and James, there's no R-Free F/W available for it, apparently Mats have locked it down pretty tight) [V]

Can't actually remember the URL of the site but if you put "dvd hack" (without the quotes:D) into your Google task bar, the site will be listed. I managed to get the code to convert my dvd player into multi-region.
