Hi folks can you help on this one.

Will be travelling back to London from Vegas in October Via LAX in Upper Class (Mileage Reward Flight). Though I have not purchased the LAS-LAX flight yet I would like to know if we are able to check our bags through to London from Vegas and if so do we have to fly with a VA Partner/Codeshare Airline (American West) or could we use any of the airlines that fly LAS-LAX.

If we are UNABLE to check our bags all the way through what airline would be the easiest to use from the point of carrying our luggage between terminals and checking in at LAX ( Well it is America and I like to SHOP!!)

Hope you can help. Thanks again

Hi

You should be able to get your bags checked through all the way as long as the airline has some sort of aggrement with VS. Most airlines do. Even BA can check bags all the way through with us for eg NCL-LHR BA LHR-SFO VS bags can be checked in all the way to SFO.

OR

Fly on Southwest and its a 10 min walk max from their term to the VS one.

Hope this helps.

So I will be able to check my bags through to London, even if I have seprate tickets IE LAS-LAX on American West and LAX to LHR on VS? Will they need to see tickets etc etc at LAS (I am traveling on E Tickets)?

Yes. As you've booked the tickets at a seperate time, you may find your onward journey isn't in your booking (ie when you check in at LAS they'll be nothing in the system to tell them you are going onwards from LAX to LHR)

All you need to do is present your confirmed onward ticket to the agent at LAS before you start the whole check-in process so they agent can add your onward journey then print out bag tags going the whole way.

VS has agreements with thousands of airlines, but the major reason why things can't be checked through is because of customs. As you're coming off an internal flight, your bags can go straight through, although LAX is temperamental so don't be surprised if you have to collect them there - just a warning!

If you were going the other way -LHR/LAX/LAS, you would have to collect your bags, not because we don't have an agreement with airlines but because you need to clear customs with them.

The only place VS can check bags all the way through from LHR is at MIA when connecting on to another destination outside the US (we have a little agreement with them) - just a bit of info there!

Cant vouch for LHR - LAX - LAS, but I have just done LHR - SFO - LAS using america west at the other end. We did get checked straight through, but the seats we were given had to be reassigned (random Seats - no good as travelling with child), and due to customs we had to pick up our luggage and cart it through cusoms anyway, so we ended up doing a whole check-in anyway.

With reference to arriving into Terminal 1 on SouthWest and having to get myself and several bags to the VA Check in Terminal 2. I understand from this thread that this is only a short walk but will I simply be able to pile my bags on a luggage cart and push or will I need a taxi or other form of transport?

Your help would be apprciated.

You can just put them on a cart and walk it,it's maybe a 5 minute walk, even if your very slow..there are lifts to take you up to ticketing,I think it's the second door you come to.
