Check-in Kiosks Coming to LGW

Not sure if this is *NEW* news, but couldn't find it reported elsewhere... (If it has been, Mods - please delete!)

I didn't realise this:

The kiosk can read all notes in the booking such as upgrades and even print Clubhouse invitations for Upper Class passengers.

Does this mean a definite [y] for self-checkin working with Op-Ups, I wonder?

I somehow suspect these are slightly better then the Thompson Fly *Shudder* machines at AMS - they didn't work very well and were so confusing, total nightmare of a system. The KLM ones worked like a dream when we used them last year, was v impressed by them.

Has anyone used any of these yet? Are they any good and do they beat the Self-Service Tills in Tesco? Again they are pants too.

Interesting comment from SRB about wanting half of pax to "enjoy the benefits of self service checkin". Hmmm not so sure about that - maybe i'm a bit cynical. Oh i'm sure half the pax will use them - but how many will enjoy them? Personally I have paid a lot of money for my flight in whichever class and I want the personal service that you get with VS, and that includes chatting to / flirting with the boy / girl on the checkin desk, not getting flustered trying to get passports to scan through some machine while lugging around luggage.
