Just come back from 3 nights at the Burj and had 3 separate suites for the family on the 23rd Floor (the highest floor you can get for the standard deluxe suites). The 24th is for the 2 presidential suites and 25th for the two royal suites - no 26th and 27th is the Al Muntaha Restaurant and Skyview bar.
It's fantastic - definitely save up your pennies, it's really nice to be pampered.
We were shown around a 3 bed suite which we tried to get us all moved to but unfortunately it was booked at the time we were there, but the size of it is wonderful and no difference in price for the 5 of us in the normal suites.
The butler showed us around the royal suite which was great, lots of space, but personally a little OTT with animal prints and reds everywhere. Looking at pictures, I think the presidential suites have the edge as they are done in more subtle blues etc.
We had a limo to/from the airport which was lovely for the 5 of us to all arrive together in style (a bit different from last time when we turned up in a minubus!).
Anyway, wish I was back there[:(]

personally i think the burj is tacky, gaudy and overpriced. i have been taken there for a number of meals over the years and never been that impressed with the quality of the food.
however, if you are thinking of 'popping in to have a look around' forget it, if your name is not on the restaurant reservation list, you won't even get onto the causeway. if you are south asian, good luck trying to get a reservation.
on a lighter note, am glad to see another route added to the network and think it's about time we were able to get mixed SQ/VS awards as i quite like the idead of HKG-LHR-DXB-SIN-HKG rather than just London and back.

Dont know, as of a few days ago they were not showing up on expedia or baa.com either.
Just checked, schedules are now loaded on baa website, VS400/VS401, and are also showing up on expedia today (showing as A340-300)
Why they are not on VS website I do not know!

Good to see Virgin expanding - a shame they had to pick Dubai - i personally think it's bland, characterless, and tacky - but hey, that's just me being miserable

I was going to ask what dates the Z's were on. I was thinking about dubai next easter and this is the perfect excuse. I could only find £1898 fares, which must be D's because they included limo.
If £1200 is going to work out the average Z fare (when i can find some [:(!])thats really good value. I haven't done much research but is this generally the price of Business fares to Dubai (at their cheapest)?

hi all I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to post on but it,s just a quick question , i was speaking to my sister about going to Dubai she asked me
"did you see the program on TV the other night regarding Dubai and a certain stretch that virgin holidays was using as the oil is running out the authority's are building franticly to turn it more into a holiday destination and are building big hotels working round the clock but this is causing massive noise and dust in certain parts of Dubai causing people staying with virgin holidays plenty of problems"
could anybody spreed any light on this for me is it that bad as i want to avoid the area if need be mind you i will not be going until late next year anyway

As an example have a look at peoples reviews of the Hilton in Jumerieh Beach Edited link to make shorter - Decker Also click on "view candid user photos" to see about the building works.
The hotels and indeed many reviews say that yes it is a building site at the moment with so much development, but that it doesnt affect your holiday.
Of course it depends what your going to Dubai for. Im going in Feb for a mix of city trip and beach holiday, so have opted for a Dubai Creek based hotel instead.
