Anyone flown to Proserpine/Whitsunday Coast?

In late September, I will be flying with Virgin Blue to PPP from Brissy...I was wondering what the airport facilities were like and whether transportation is easy to Airlie Beach? Also, are there many good car hire companies located at Proserpine Airport?

Hi there
Proserpine Airport is very basic and luggage is collected from a trolley outside the terminal building, numerous shuttle buses are available to Whitsunday resorts, also the major car hire companies are represented at PPP.
Proserpine township is a dump and no one (tourists to the area)actually goes there. The locals still drag their knuckles on the ground[:p]
