I've just spoken to a very nice lady at FC Red (I'm going Ag next week!) who quite firmly disagreed with me on the online miles bonus. I could have sworn it was originally meant to end on some date, but was then effectively extended seamlessly until the end of this year - frankly, I'd expect it to either just be continuously extended or made permanent... I booked a return flight in April, flew out in May and back in July (originally booked return was June), and I am/was sure that the offer was in effect then. She says it was originally in effect until the end of March, then was extended from the start of June or July - so my booking and outwards flight in April and May means I don't get the bonus.

I'm not all that fussed about the 1500 miles - they'd be nice, but they're not going to break the bank - except that I'd calculated that 18000 miles from the flight + 1300 or so from my virgin cc + 1500 bonus was over 20000, meaning the flight effectively came with a free one-way upgrade

Have now spoken to FC again and pointed out that the page for the offer very clearly says

To qualify for the online booking bonus, members must both book and fly within the offer period (31 July 2004 until 31 December 2005).

and I'm now waiting to hear back from them again...

I tend to agree with you vmlinuz.

The offer was extended - not reinstated.

Didn't fly during this period - at least not from an on-line booking but I read the offer as being available continually.

In fact this thread would seem to confirm that.

For the record, they called me back to say they are crediting me with the missing miles

I booked a flight in April to PVG, flew in May, and got the online bonus. I then booked another flight in May and flew Jun, and got the online Bonus. Then booked a flight in June and flew in July. Guess what....Got the online bonus (+triple miles:D, although that is not really relevant to this thread). The offer is very clear, has always been clear and is exactly as you report it - book online and fly between july last year and Dec this year and you get a bonus.

So what you are being told is, how do I phrase this, not correct. Keep pressing them - they owe you the miles.

I booked and travelled on a return ticket to NYC in April/May and only 500 miles was automatically credited to my account. I emailed FC about my other 500 missing miles and they were duly credited within a few weeks. Don't know why only half the bonus miles were credited in the first place, the actual miles earned for my flights showed up almost straight after.
