A few fare and ticket changes

Hi,

Quick update - the First Class (£4999+taxes) Great Escapade ticket is no longer available. Seen as it was only of use on SQ and NZ, and now NZ have started consolidating C and F to a J product then it was deemeed unrequired.

The more controversial change is 'admin' fees fro refunds on tickets (that are of course refundable) - it is £30 for fully flexible tixkets in all classes, and £15 for semi-flexible tickets in all classes.

Sorry to hear that Chuck - didn't realise you had to cancel.

I'm actually amazed that you could - the Z i/b would normally prevent that, surely?

Yes, personal circumstances changed shortly before the trip.

I never imagined that I'd be forced to cancel; the fare seemed quite "full-fare-ish" to me anyway, but apparently not totally unrestricted. The one bright spot was that the ticket wasn't an award ticket, where 25% of miles (20,000) would have been deducted had I canceled.

Yes that is the right way round! [:0]

As Chuck as demonstrated, money will be forfeited anyway on a semi-flexible ticket.

What's happened to VS being an innovative airline who try to distinguish themselves from the opposition?

It seems more and more that it is a case of 'Monkey see, Monkey do' in copying BA tactics for more bloody stealth fees such as a charge for refunding refundable tickets, fuel surcharges and Goodnight/Sleeper service.

I hate to say it, but I think VS has now taken its foot off the pedal now that it can comfortably hold its own against BA and other competitor airlines.
