A346 for VS8 ?

I'm looking to purchase my flight from LAX to LHR next June and it is showing up as an A346 instead of the usual 747. Can this be correct as there still will be only 2 flights per day but the 346 carries less passengers. Isn't this counter intuitive for the summer traveling season?

Interesting as the A346 causes havoc when it flies into LAX, it can't get to the gate as its wider. So it has to go on remote.

Thanks,
Richard

Ahh great, remote deplane at LAX! Eugh, will take even longer to do immigration!

So where are they going to be sending the 744's?

May I suggest going about 250 miles to the north? San Francisco.

It is just better there!

That's ok if you arn't going to LA for business or to see friends! I havnt been to SFO yet, would like to soon tho. Maybe when VS publish some cheap fares that way!

The VS023 is hardly ever full (surprise, surprise[:(!]) so I guess the surplus pax will have to book on that flight. Anyway, the 346 doesn't carry that much less than a 744, only about 50.

Cheers,

'Fraid that 'tis true. The 744's last flight as VS8, at least for now, will be October 31. Bazz gets the credit for spotting the change.

From a seating perspective the VS23/24 won't be quite as bad soon as the flights seem to be showing as A343 Suite from next month -- they certainly were on the few dates I checked.

Of course, the Good Night Flight service following a couple of rather nasty sandwiches and some poor quality drinks in the lousiest lounge on the VS network won't exactly be a pleasure, so the VS7/8 will still have precedence.

Incidentally, VS does seem to operate differential pricing on these routes: the VS7/8 is (a) always more expensive and (b) seems to have fewer Z fares despite being a larger plane. Ho hum...
