What happened to VS200 on 7 August?

Why is this flight delayed to HKG and why is the Sydney leg cancelled? What will VS do with all the passengers booked to travel to Sydney?

No idea why it is delayed however...

Bearing in mind the delay is close to 24 hours - 18:30 Monday rather than 22:30 Sunday - I would assume that the Sydney passengers would simply wait in HKG for around 5 hours until the VS200 leaving later (22:30 Monday) catches up. Of course this means they will arrive in SYD 24 hours late but there should certainly be capacity.

Likewise the VS201 from SYD to HKG tomorrow (9th) is also cancelled so I guess there will be some more dissapointed passengers there.

It is also worth noting that VA will try to get passengers on flights with other airlines.

While in LHR (back from EWR - UCS!) I heard it was delayed because there is no captain for that flight and therefore no captain for the return HKG and for two SYD legs. Hope that helps.:D

Cheers,

I wonder if it was due to illness - or bad planning?

I've read a lot lately about shortages of flightdeck crew at Virgin and BA - so on top of VA's tight aircraft management is it also tight when it comes to crew?

Hopefully it was merely just a blip on the radar (excuse the pun)...such as illness or held up in traffic. They won't want to make a habit of this, and I'm not just saying that because I am flying to HKG next month:D
