Reward Flights/Companion Flights

Wonder if someone can provide me with some help regarding Companion Flights or Reward Flights with VA. After my trip to MCO in about 4 weeks (3rd September
) I am going to have approximately 60,000 miles to use up.
I was hoping to book up for MCO again next year and take my niece and nephew out (who will be 10 and 7 respectively then). Anyone got any ideas about the cheapest way to do this? I think there will be 3 adults and the 2 kids going, so would it be cheaper to get companion flights, or 1 reward flight? It looks fairly straight forward but I understand that for a companion flight to be available you have to book a specific class for the qualifying flight?
I presume these are more expensive then normal??
