Using a third party agent I have booked my flights to Delhi...

Going out - VS300 - Sept 7th

Upon receiving my tickets/reciept etc, I gave them a call to confirm that they had provided me with the window seat that I had requested. Their response was that economy was (pretty much) fully booked; they had failed with the window seat request and that they had only managed to secure me seat 46K.

Am I going nuts?! According to "Virgin Seat Planner" this is a window seat...and there are plently of seats available for selection - is this updated in real-time?

Does this mean that my seat is not gauranteed? May I be moved?

(Slightly off topic - is the Virgin "Update Booking" feature actually available for me to use? Or must the tickets have been purchased through Virgin directly? It seems to work.

Questions, questions...

Thanks for shedding any light on this, your expertise/time is greatly appreciated.

You may well be moved even though you have that seat allocated at the moment. Best advice seems to be to use online check-in or get there early for check-in.

Sometimes a move can work out for the best, I managed to get out of the nasty lower deck PE seats into the Upper deck earlier this year which was a relief!!

There will be no such luck on the DEL flight, its a 343 so it would be a little drafty on the upper deck ;)

46K is indeed a window seat, suprisingly my flight to DEL on Saturday night was pretty open in Y and W (I think W was only ~75% and Y ~95%), however my return this Saturday is looking 100% in Y and W according to the availability tools, but the seat planner online is still showing loads of unused seats in W!

As Y seats go, 46K is actually ok and pretty standard, my suggestion would be to get there early if you cannot get to use the online checkin.

Thanks for all your replies, folks.

So (please excuse me, first time flyer on V), DIY check-in will ensure I get my selected seat? Obviously, barring a freak occurence...

If I choose to check-in manually, how early is early?! [:p]

Kryten - This is my first experience of Gandhi airport; I have heard it is frankly hellish, any tips that you can share with me? Thanks for any help, good Sir! [y]

Use OLCI and you will get your seat pretty much guaranteed [y] If you check-in on the day I recommend 4 hours before flight, of course without CH entry that's a long time to spend in LHR departures!

DEL for me was ok on arrival, I have no idea about departures until tomorrow though... Just make sure you have a driver pre-arranged on arrival to take you to your hotel (most hotel's will provide one or Avis can arrange them - my hotel actually uses Avis), you can't drive here unless you are suicidal!
