In San Francisco at present and may see about hiring a car from Hertz for a few days to go to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe etc. How exactly do I get the miles? Looked at the Virgin website and it mentions some sort of number but I've really no idea what it's talking about.

You need to use the VAA CDP (Corporate Discount Plan) number which is 708870. When you book (if online) there is a field in which to place the code, if by phone advise the operator.

After the hire keep all the relevant documentation, you will probably have to chase FC for the miles (1000) and will need supporting evidence.

Good luck.

You can also claim the miles by using the "Retro Claim form" on the left hand side of their dedicated site:

http://www.hertz.co.uk/virgin

You just need your rental date & agreement no. (+ FC details), and they're usually credited in 3-4 days. [y]:D

My last rental with Hertz back in June was finally added to my FC account last week [:(!]

Had to send copies of my agreement twice to hertz as they seem to have lost it. VS also had a copy but Hertz were so slow it was unbelievable.

Just to reassure you, I have used Hertz several times over the past year (in the UK though) and my 1k miles always appear within a few weeks.

It's not always bad - just make sure you give them your FC number.

Andy

In all fairness I should have stated that the rental was with Hertz in Abu Dhabi in the UAE and they use a franchise there.

Hmm. Weird - I have to say (in their defence) that I've never had a problem with them, and I rent 4-6 times a month.

My Hertz 5*/Gold card already has my FC number linked to it, and if they don't post within 7 days, I simply fill out the form.

Within 3 days, an email comes back apologising for the delay, and a note that the miles have now been credited.

As I say - I've never had a problem with them. [y]
