Where are the cruet sets in UC?

PostPosted: 10 Oct 2005, 17:12

Was I unlucky on Thursday or have VS stopped providing the cute cruet sets in UC and replaced them with strategically placed salt and pepper sachets? If this is a permanent feature (I really hope it's not) I'll bet the bean counters at VS had a field day back slapping each other on that one.

At first I thought it was a cost cutting measure but the factory that supplies them had shut down for the summer ( must remember to get a job there)

I always encourage passengers to take their salt and pepper shakers as a souvineir so its probably my fault they have run out [:I]

Should be back any day soon

I'd never dream of doing that.

Good to know that they're coming back and the penny pinching hasn't sunk to such depths. That's a mighty long summer holiday - aren't we in October now? ;)

Is there anything that you have not taken a picture of Howard? I am glad that you are using your real name to post under - the thought of what might happen if we asked if you are male/female doesn't bear thinking about!:D

No. And to prove it here's V-Flyer on board BA FC:

That is a very cool picture Howard! :D

On our recent trip we had horrible little paper sachets on the way out but the cute little planes on the way back. :o)

They were on both sectors of my HKG flights last week.

Southernbelle - you naughty girl! No wonder they are stamped with 'pinched from virgin atlantic' on the bottom. I have a set at home but was given them 'legally' :) - they used to have a full canteen of UC cutlery to keep them company but we all know what happened to that!

Thanks,
Richard

Well yes, but doesn't everyone have that? Let me see if I can beat Howard's picture - I'll take a few of my office at home [:p] 7 years of flying VS regularly, and you can imagine the amount of 'stuff' one can accumulate [:0]

Thanks,
Richard

Hey Richard I don't think there's any doubt you'll beat me! I am hampered by two problems: firstly I can be pretty sure that I don't fly with the frequency that you do on VS, and secondly the GF nicks my stuff when I'm not looking and uses it up. [:(]

But a pic of your collection would be nice.

Cheers, Howard

You haven't factored in the cutlery thief in my case - the amount of Virgin Vie and SpaceNK kits that went astray. I also give quite a lot of the kits and sleepsuits away to friends in the office as I would not be able to move for them otherwise, or more recently donating them to one of the local charity shops for more effective use, along with the masses of hotel toiletries that I take on every trip. They are always well received.

Of course I do keep one of each item/generation for the collection :)

Thanks,
Richard

Wow! You even had a pair of the older "Weeble" ones as well. They were the best, IMHO.

Cheers!

Don't they notice when items such as cruet sets mysteriously disappear from specific seats, or is it like my first ever Virgin flight where the cabin crew turned a blind eye to glasses etc accidently falling into mny hand luggage?

Well they never seemed to notice that four of the lovely glasses supplied in economy go astray...

Mike

If you look closely you'll see that some of the engine cruets have 'Pinched from Virgin Atlantic' written on their feet. These actually predate the weeble ones. The current (sic) engine cruets don't have this written on them in my experience.

What a load of useless information I carry!

Cheers, Howard

The last lot of plane ones(August)did have "pinched" stamped onto the feet just like the originals.
