Earning Air Miles

Just been on the V-Flyer mileage calculator out of curiosity, and put in my flight to Orlando for next year and this is what I got.

From To Airline Class Mileage TP

MAN MCO Virgin Atlantic Economy 5280 2

Does anyone know why I have only ever earned 4224 Flying Club miles each leg on this flight, does the pilot know a short cut perhaps.

It's the class of service.

If you travel discounted economy, you'll get 4,224 miles.

Travel on a more flexible ticket (as you will have selected - Y/B/L), VS will add another 25% bonus to the total, bringing it to 5280.

(Unfortunately, the calculator is displaying the Y/B/L class as default - Needs fixing...)

Well I never knew that, thanks prieffer for the information. I have booked a flydrive through Virgin Holidays which they tell me is 'v' class, maybe I should have a look at the cost of different classes with Virgin Atlantic instead of Virgin Holidays and weigh up miles against pounds, which is going to save me the most money in the long run next time

Many thanks

All the detail on the earning fare classes can befound here on va.com

(Not forgetting the v-flyer Fare Codes Page, too! ;)[y])
