Freeway,

I think that's another VirginFlyer exclusive ;) - I haven't seen the first name & reg published anywhere else on the net before.

One thing that has puzzled me; what is the official name of the A380? Some refer to it as the A380-100, some call it the A380-800 and some just the A380. Couldn't find anything definitive on the Airbus site to help me on this; Anyone know the full story?

Maybe - if they'd named it after me, there'd be another X in there :D

I've added Virgin Lady 2006 to the Aircraft Database - ok, 2 years early, but I like to keep on top of the game :D

Also, based on Freeway's insight into the number of seats in each class, plus some technical specs from Airbus, I've taken a guess at the cabin layout. That's also in the Aircraft Database. (It's also in Seat Ratings, since it gets in there by default - but obviously you can't post a seat rating yet!)

At this point, I stress, it's just my educated guess at the layout. I'll be interested to see how far off I am when the official seatmap is available ;)

Pix,

I've seen official Airbus Drawings of the A380 and at the bottom they refer to it as the A380-800 for passenger and A380-800F for freighter versions.

Yup, after posting and digging a bit further, I also found reference to A380-800 in the Airbus technical specs - so I guess that's my answer :)

Wow...amazing Pix. What can I say :) Thanks. I was about to suggest a seat map as a future idea...and bingo there it is!!!

I cannot wait to fly on the A380-800 that's all I can say!!!!!!

Anyone taking bets on it's first route [?] Sure I read somewhere it would be used on the LHR-HKG-SYD route

Sorry Pix, your seatmap is wrong. You've missed the lounge area, piano bar, showers, double beds, gym, ... :D

not forgetting the casino, shopping arcade and fast food take away.....hehe ;)

seriously though I honestly don't think many airlines will be adding such luxuries, as at a cost of around $275Million each - they're gonna want as many full seats as possible not to mention the safety implications that go with hundreds of people roaming around an aircraft......

Check out those cabin quotas!

Said that PE was the way forward, thats a 50% increase over previous levels for that cabin.

64 in UC! Imagine how many VS crew there will be manning that cabin now...

Now when is the launch party..... Remember the A340-600 one, it was on Airport.

Thanks,
Richard

I think the map was a rough estimate (as per Pix's post above) ;)

Two years before the plane is due to enter VS service, I'm not surprised it's incorrect.

The 'official' seatmap itself will probably go through several changes before now and then also, depending on whether VS have actually finalised things yet or not ;)

If you have a more accurate map Declan, let Pix take a peek ;)

So, did I put PE on the wrong deck? ;)

At least I made sure it was the right number of seats... :)

Obviously the plan is confidential ;) I think I said let Pix take a peek, not 'post it here'.

I expect that the map'll change before now and the first VS A388 going in for kitting out anyhow. I'm pretty certain that a company as innovative as VS won't anchor themselves to a final seating plan this soon.

I hope VS are leading the field with on-board features when it is launched i just think RB would love grabbing the headlines with features no one else has. Economy and PE would probably be unchanged but with UC we are bound to get better than any other airline.

Declan

Please could you remind the A380 VS layout planners that dedicated PE WCs are essential!

Bloom'in eck! you are expecting a lot for the double price premium over economy aren't you? You get a slightly larger seat and what should be normal legroom, now you want your own toilet??
Next you will be expecting a decent Buisness class meal! :D

Alan

My own toilet would be nice but I am quite prepared to share it with the other PE passengers!

cheers
