Here we go with another of those threads

- what are travellers finding abroad that they can't get at home? The sort of thing that has colleagues asking you to bring some for them next time? The nomination can be for new stuff or just for unobtainable stuff in your country of origin!
I'll start the ball rolling with Melatonin (oldie but goldie - helps redress sleep problems by encouraging REM sleep) and Chasers (hangover tablets taken whilst imbibing).

Ooo.. Decker. Welcome to the dizzy heights of VirginFlyer Inflight Supervisor

I always get asked to pop into Walgreens and pick up jumbo-sized packs of Tums or Advil or similar. Does that make me a drug dealer? Nick.. put the cuffs on. I'll come quietly.

Pix - I think he beat me to it by 1 minute [}:)]

Anyhow, I've been introduced to the joys of 2 things:
Zirtek (US - Zyrtek): Anti-allergy medicine
Tylenol PM: Sleeping tablets
Both available over the counter over there and very effective.
[side note] After taking Zirtek when visiting CA, on my return I found out I'm highly allergic to cats (and I had a cat for 15 years), followed by a milder reaction to dogs and a small reaction to grass! My GP's prescribed Zirtek after my insistence that it really does the business [8D]
Cheers

For me, I like Swedish Fish & Jelly Belly Beans

Going on the orders I get when travelling to the USA, it tends to be either sweets or gadgets!
Thus for sweets, Almond M+M's and Jolly Ranchers are a regular order for some!
Gadget-wise, the most obvious at the moment of course is the mini i-Pod. With the exchange rate such as it is, the cost even falls below the current import value threshold!

I've had to resort to mail order for Green Mountain in the past and currently have about a dozen packets of beans in my freezer. You can't get Fair Trade coffee in bean form in the UK, so I use that as a salve for my conscience when it comes to postage costs and food miles. I've bought Cabot cheese back from Vermont as well (although post the most recent Foot and Mouth I've relaised that we're not meant to import Dairy from outside the EU[:(].
Milk Duds have been a popular request from friends in the past, and CVS pharmacies do a great cold medication. Personally I get rather bemused by the excitement over Hershey's chocolate and Oreos - give me Bourbons or Chocolate HobNobs any day!

It has to be said, Hersheys sucks. My girlfriend and her family goes nuts over the Cadburys stuff I take them

Gotta be the easiest way to win over potential in-laws...

I always end up bringing back a load of Sudafed. I know it's available over here, but the stuff I get in the states seems to work better, and besides, I always seem to catch a cold off someone on the plane! [xx(]
