Just a quick question... as a general rule, if passengers have not pre-booked their seats, do check-in staff generally fill the seats from front to back in that order??
Thanks

it depends on the airpot - are you talking LHR? Generally, I say again, generally I have found it is front to back, with exceptions for pre-reqested seats, parents, disabled, etc

Hello - I was enquiring about LGW South Terminal. Also what percentage of pre-allocations do Virgin allow, I seem to think it is 60% preallocation???

Thanks

Not sure on that one. All the really knowledgable people are getting back on Sunday from Vegas, so I think we will have to wait on their great minds.[:#]

Hi,

Generaly seats are allocated at check-in, if you have not prebooked or used DIY or On Line. The Computer allocated the most suitable seats for your party, and it is usually done in a distributed manner. eg, if the flight is only a quarter full they don't sit every one together! This helps keep the loading even.

You can however ask to sit anywhere you like and they will try to accomodate you if the seats are available. They will not have allocated seats for people who have not checked in yet, unless they are pre-booked or checked in on-line.

If you want to sit in a specific area of the aircraft then either check-in online (the best way) or arrive at checkin prior to it opeining and then you will usually get what you want.

Please remember that there are no guarantees and even if you pre-book or checkin online, they can still change you seats right up to boarding.

Hope this helps.

Neil.

On my recent return flight from Vegas, I'd been plonked in the downstairs bit of PE. Now - call me a snob (I'll hold u my hands to that!) - but being downstairs is little better than being in economy. I kept checking the site right up to the day I left and all the time it showed no seats available elsewhere. So I was a bit surprised (and more than a bit peeved) at check in. I asked if I could change my seats - expecting them to say no as it was a full flight - to be told that the party of 4 in front of us had just taken the last 4 seats in PE! Not happy about this - how can it be that I kept cheking and checking and was unable to change and yet 4 people walk up at check in and get seats where they choose? I've written to VS customer services (natch, but their reply, although courteous, gave me no real answers..... anyone had this happen? Am sure someone must have done!

They could well have got 70 A,C, H & K.

These are exit seats, and therefore only assigned at check-in (you won't have been able to pre-select them). It's perfectly normal for this to happen, and not really a customer service issue if it is the case.

I'm sure Paul is correct. On our full PE flight to LAS earlier this year we asked at twilight check in to be moved upstairs and were given 70A and C.

Take your point, but it was, nonetheless, disappointing to be downstairs. It just doesn't feel like PE.
