Which Seats

The Rear Admiral and I are booked onto a flight on the 27th. Due to a curious set of circumstances our bookings are not linked, so we can book separate seats rather than having to sit together. [8D]
Currently we have two of the seats at the back of Y booked (on a 343) so that we get a bit more room. However, the flight is far from full in Y (Packed in J so no chance of an upgrade), so quite a few of the 4 seat combos are free. Here in lies the quandary I find myself in. Do I:
1) Leave our seat choice as they are (because we at least get a bit more space).
2) Move us to, say, E and G of a 4 seat section and hope that by “blocking” all 4 seats we will get even more room. The risk being that they put someone between us.
3) Book us in the middle of two separate 4 seat section. Again we would be partly blocking out the row, but there would seem to be a much greater risk of them putting a couple, or even a threesome, in the seats we leave free.
Decisions, decisions – somebody please help me on what the best strategy is!
