Well, Virgin at least do know how to pizz people off.
I decided for the first time to do online check in, as I was aware the flight was busy.
good job I did!
We have had since day one 6A &k and 7A booked.
I go to do OLCI and it shows us in 12A 12K and 11A!

Quickly go to the change seats and there are only three seats available.
yes, youve guessed it! 6A 6K & 7A!

so reenter our original preferences and get outr seats.
But if I had not done OLCI 24 hours before they would have allocated those seats to someone else and we would have been stuck around the bar, NOT a good idea with a three year old!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! [:(!][:(!]

Really at a loss to understand why they do this but at least you have what you wanted.

Have a wonderful holiday.

That's exactly what happened to me 3 weeks ago - Allocated seat up to the day before departure that then changed at the point of OLCI [:I]

Had the same problem when I used OLCI for my return from Orlando a few weeks ago. However, I was unable to change the seats... Called Virgin USA and they said it could not be changed[:#]

Called the UK office when it opened, and they managed to change it back to 6a&k and 7a&k.

A right royal pain in the backside.

My outlaws used OLCI to when flying back from Orlando to LGW. They got the requested PE seats on the upper deck. However, when they arrived @ the airport, their seats were moved to the lower deck in the middle of a row of 4! As you can imagine, they were not impressed...

After lots of hassle, they got moved back up to the upper deck, but not the seats they requested! They spoke to the people in their pre assigned seats, and they were family of one of the VS staff on that flight![V]

Similar thing happened to us once. We had pre-booked seats and when we came to check in and given boarding cards they had changed. We asked why and were told that it was due to a medical emergency which we thought was fair enough. The trouble is that when we actually boarded we found that it wasn't due to a medical emergency at all it was just a family of 3 who had been upgraded from PE and wanted to sit together!!

It was bad enough having our seats which had been pre-booked for months taken by op-ups but what really annoyed us was being lied to by the check-in staff.

Similar thing happened to us on the way back from Las Vegas - we were asked if we would swap our 6A and 6K for "medical reasons", but it turned out a couple of members of a large party didn't want to sit next to the bar....

Although it always says it is a "seat request", it does make you wonder when these moves are being made, and even when a plane has changed why couples or groups seem to be deliberatly split up, for no apparent reason.
