In a nutshell, yes

V-Flyer is a totally independent, - not for profit - site. (Despite what a certain poster on a.net says [:(!] )
Apart from a small amount of revenue from banner ads - membership income is the only money the site receives. Pete uses this money to help pay for bandwidth and other running expenses.
Membership is not compulsory to enjoy the benefits / advice offered by the site, but it does give you access to the 'members only' forum and little things like the countdown, and the small plane icon on the bottom left of each post, which details your upcoming VS flights.

Well im happy to support this website, ive not travelled on Virgin for about 8 years (I was only young as well!) and ive found this forum very helpful in the last couple of weeks and i have subsequently booked my flights to NYC for my 21st through Virgin.
And i want the countdown thing [:p]
Thanks for your help!

Nick,
I see you have flights booked so how come you dont have a countdown timer showing. I am getting confused

The plane is done automatically by the system software when you put a flight into the itnerary section, but people have to physically create their countdown data.... which is an easy process, fully explained in the Clubhouse forum.

Countdowns are not limited to VS flights, they can be for anything that a member is looking forward to.
The only reason I haven't got a countdown is that I have been too idle to type in the data. [:I][:I]

How long does it take for the online benefits of membership to come through? Do you have to wait for the card etc to arrive in the post? I paid for red membership online yesterday and have not had any further contact yet e.g. a PM or email.

Hi Paul,
There's been a bit of a delay, as pixuk (who runs the membership programme) has only just returned from being away. I'm sure he'll contact you asap.

Hi Paul.
Just back today, and in that sleepy, just-off-the-VS020 state which means I'm unlikely to get an awful lot done today. Promise to catch up by tomorrow. Sorry for any delay.

Thanks Pete! Everything is working.
Non-members - consider the benefits of joining up - it is worth it for entry to the Clubhouse alone.
