LGW post-Suite config

A nugget from A.net today;

quote:By all accounts we are looking at putting more PE seats in too. Its very popular on most routes especially from LGW. When the LGW based 744s are re-configged with the Upper Class Suite the J cabin will shrink to occupy just A Zone and Premium Economy will be extended downstairs to B zone as well as the 38 seats upstairs.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

Agre with that Pix, lots of VH pax travelling PE. It will get rid of the hybrid PE service in UC seats.

Yes agreed it would be a sensible move but rows 11 and 12 currently with UC seats will then not be allocated to those lucky few in PE.

does this mean that the LGW 744 fleet will be configed with only 14 J class?

is this too small?

Rich.

Not necessarily. Most of the routes out of LGW are B&S, and Upper rarely sells out. Most of the time that B zone is used for PE anyway, so this gives them an opportunity to squeeze a few more seats into the space while they upgrade to the Suites & V:Port. They'll need to put new Wash & Kash seats in aswell anyway, so makes sense to rationalise the whole thing in one go.

From a revenue perspective it makes perfect sense... hardly anyone pays anything close to a J fare on these routes whilst PE is always sold out.

BTW, you can get an Upper Class Z fare to St Lucia in June for £1,370! Tempting, very tempting.

Very good news for us PE travellers - could not get a cheap PE seat direct to Vegas for our trip this year, even booking 6 months in advance. Would still want to sit up top though :)

Weird then that Caribbean is more miles than SFO if doing rewards.... but we're planning on this in September - always nice to be somewhere sunny on your wedding anniversary :)

I'm trying to find a reason not to splash out on a couple of Z fares and a week in Anse Chastanet! About 4K all in... :D

Herself is tempted by the Hilton Jalousie. Heard nice things about the Anse though.

Rooms are very good here with their own pools but the service is terrible and the food not much better, Eastwinds Inn is my favorite very small and quite but excellent food and service.

Hi ,

Woohoo!!! :D

A real bar at last on the LGW flights :)

But how will it fit into the nose section?

I suppose, as always, time will tell?

Regards

Can't see how the usual sort of bar would fit into the nose section... maybe something rather smaller and L-shaped in the central space? or of course they could bung a couple of Suites in that space...
