Thanks for the advance info, Marc [y]

Hmm. So, they're introducing it on a further 4 flights (but at least they're binning it on twice as many!)

Glad to see VS024 restored to it's former self. Now, if only they had a CH there... ;) Do you know if the changes were a direct result of passenger feedback, or something that came out of the "Cabin Development" think-tank?

Hi Paul,

The changes have come about following a combination of passenger and crew feedback.

In my experience onboard the GN service works well on flights from the US East Coast. Only time will tell on the VS006. [?]

The MIA is an interesting one - no Clubhouse, so no opportunity for pre-flight dining, so you are more likely to eat on board, and with tail winds, you can end up with a rather short flight.

I flew on the VS6 last year, and would have liked the option of a GNF service, as the main meal service was sooooo slow (over about 2 hours in total). Others on this particular flight also echoed this, indeed, some people who had ordered full meals got bored of waiting and cancelled the remainder of their meal after having their starter (and waiting about another 20 mins for their main to not arrive) and went to sleep.

I'm sure with a light load and a good crew, it's possible to get a full meal pushed out to everyone fairly quickly, I've seen it done.

But with a full cabin and what seemed to be a crew (or maybe just the galley op) that were slightly off the boil, it can take forever.

As you say, it's a case of seeing how it goes.

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the info!

Not convinced by the service myself, but time will tell.

Not really surprising that they dropped it on the SYD flights, I think we've heard the most complaints about the service on that route. Nevertheless it's good to see that VS is paying attention to the complaints of passengers.

I flew on VS6 earlier this year, and my experience mirrored Mike's. I gave up on the food after the main course, by which time we were more than two and a half hours past taking off, which is a big dent in what was a pretty short flight and, since I was working almost on arrival, I needed the sleep. For my money, I would have welcomed a fast food service, and I think GNF may well work for the business pax on this flight.

Best wishes

David

Thats great news Jetstreamer - really appreciate the update.

From my perspective, I'm flying the VS200 to SYD in Feb, so I am very happy. Although it has to be said I booked the flight in full knowledge of GNF, so it is really just a bonus [y]

Your post does not mention the VS201 HKG-LHR, do you know if this will remain GNF?

Have not seen the issue with GNF on east coast atlantic routes, although I can understand the concern for the VS6/12 without a clubhouse.

Overall, fab news - it's good to see that VS have listened and learned, rather than "sticking to its guns" - as some other companies might have been tempted to do.....

Thanks again,

Rich.

Fantastic news!!

It does make sense on shorter flights, east coast US particularly. Never understood it on the longer flights - I can't sleep for 12hours at home never mind in a plane!

And it just makes me even more excited about our SYD trip in February!

Thanks for the info Jetstreamer - much appreciated.

Yeah very interesting news.
Personally glad they're removing it on the HKG flights in time for our flight. Was going to ask the same, are they keeping it on the VS201? (although on this service it would bother me less)

By my reckoning, they're adding it to flights that start before 9pm on East Coast. Guessing thisi will still make sense as most are fairly short flights.

All in all I'm pleased with the developments and glad that VS has listened to feedback. Those 20 odd pages of the GNF topic were not in vain :D

Hmm... when I came back on the VS22 the other day there were people asking to be moved from the snooze zone back towards the bar. I also only had just about enough time in the CH to get a meal.

The problem I still have with the GNF service is that if you have a short connection, or a late departure from the office, then you don't have eating in the CH as an option. Still, it's good news about the removal of it from the VS24.

Hi Rich,

Although the VS201 was one of the flights originally scheduled to have the Good Night service, it didn't happen in the end, so the original Freedom service remains on this flight.

I'm not sure it has been fully updated, as the VS24 and VS601 still appear as GNF flights, and the website says that the Hong Kong flights will also have GNF, when they depart after 9pm (which they currently do).

Also VS6, VS12 and VS22 have not appeared as GNF, which we expected.

Perhaps a further up-date to come [?]

As Rich has said, the main website has not been fully updated.

The GNF changes take effect from January 11th and are as detailed in my original post on this topic.

Rest assured that the original service is being reinstated on the VS024, VS200, VS300, VS350, VS601, VS602, VS623 and VS651. [^]

Does GNF service need to be preordered through. I will be on VS006, where there is no CH to serve dinner.

Thank you

AFAIK, there will not be a GNF service on the VS006, primarily because there isnt a CH at MIA

On other flights, you wil not need to pre-order though. You will be given the choice onboard of whether you want a hot or cold meal tray, or whether you want to go straight to sleep

HTH?
